Assessment
BRIEF2 Executive Functioning
A standardised assessment to help families better understand a child or teenager's everyday self-regulation, focus, planning and organisational skills.
The skills that run everyday life
When focus, regulation and follow-through feel harder than they should.
Executive functioning is how children and teenagers focus, regulate emotions, manage impulses, organise tasks, remember instructions and adapt when things change. When it's hard work, it shows up in school, behaviour, routines and confidence.
What it looks at
Six everyday skill areas
The BRIEF2 is a standardised questionnaire that explores executive functioning and self-regulation in everyday settings — not in a lab.
How it works
A simple, structured process
- 01
Initial enquiry
A short conversation about what you are noticing and whether BRIEF2 is a good fit.
- 02
Questionnaire completed
Standardised forms completed by parents and (where helpful) teachers, and by older children themselves.
- 03
Scoring & analysis
Responses are scored against normed data to highlight areas of strength and difficulty.
- 04
Feedback session
Alison talks you through the findings in plain language — what it means, what it doesn't, and what to consider next.
- 05
Written summary
A clear written report you can share with your GP, paediatrician or school, with practical suggestions.
Important to know
"The BRIEF2 does not diagnose ADHD, autism or other conditions on its own. It gives families, schools and clinicians clear, practical information about how a child or teen manages everyday life — and where support may help."
